HOMEWWORK IS DUE EVERY FRIDAY!!!!!
HOMEWORK POLICY
It is important for homework to become a priority in your household. Homework should be completed before giving your child free time to watch T.V. or play video games. I have given each child a book for their homework assignments. Treat the book with respect and care. If it is lost or damaged, it is your child’s responsibility to replace the book. Books are given at the child's independent reading level for practice. If homework is not turned in on time, the child will not receive the next week’s assignments. This kind of behavior will result in a negative grade on your child’s report card.
Homework completion is part of our curriculum. As your child gets older, the homework gets more challenging so this is a good point in your child’s life to establish good study habits. Some ways to promote homework completion is by setting a time after school, a quiet and well-lit desk or table to work at, and sitting with your child if possible. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me before or after school. Thank you for your help and support in developing a sense of responsibility in your child.
There will be a check sheet to let you know if your child turned in their homework on time, late or it was incomplete as well as a comment about your child's homework. I will be looking for it to be completed on time, done to the student's best ability and completed neatly. I will not be looking for perfect papers so if there are mistakes, please don't correct your child, this let's me know what I need to review in class with them. I will not write on your child's homework if there is a mistake. I'll make a note of it for myself. If your child doesn't understand any or most of the homework assignment, please let me know. Let your child do the work not you. You may sit and help them but they are to complete the assignments in their handwriting and in their writing style. This goes for monthly homework projects as well or homework probes. These will be explained later in the year.
